 | Welcome and thank you for your interest in Boston College High School.
Since the time of St. Ignatius and his first comrades, Jesuit educators have been challenging students to grow academically, spiritually and personally to become leaders in their communities. The same spiritual and pedagogical tradition which informed the first Jesuit schools more than 450 years ago is very much alive today at Morrissey Boulevard, indeed as it is in all of the 48 Jesuit high schools nationwide. For more than 145 years, BC High has been producing young men of conscience and compassion marked by a genuine commitment to the service of others.
BC High offers a distinguished and rigorous academic program to prepare students for college, with many opportunities for advanced placement and honors level work. Last year alone, BC High students took more than 900 Advanced Placement exams. Complementing this commitment to intellectual discipline is the rich variety of cultural and athletic opportunities available in our extensive co-curricular program. Perhaps most significantly, every year our students, aware of the unique opportunities and privileges a BC High education provides, give back to the neighborhoods through hours of community service and generous mite box donations.
If BC High sounds like the kind of place where you would like to work and grow, explore this web site for all the information you need to get started. All candidates for high school (grade 9) admission must fill out an application and take either the SSAT or Catholic High School Entrance Exam. All applicants for the Arrupe Division (grade 7) must fill out the Arrupe Division application and take the ISEE. Please pay special attention to the deadlines for each. Each fall we offer an Open House for all applicants, Information Nights for Arrupe and high school applicants, and from October through February, we invite any interested 6th or 8th grader to spend the day with us as an "Eagle for a Day."
To get started, please create an online Eagle Admission Account. This account will allow you to apply online, schedule visits and check the status of your application materials
In keeping with the school's founding mission and Jesuit ideals, BC High offers financial aid to qualifying families. Our hope is that this need-based financial aid open the doors of our school to young men who, otherwise, would not be able to engage in the educational opportunities at BC High. For the 2010-2011 school year, almost 500 students will receive need-based aid with the middle 50 percent of those awards falling between $5,000 and $10,300. As you continue to investigate your options for the next step of your academic journey, please feel free to contact us by phone at 617-474-5010 or e-mail us at the Admissions Office (admissions@bchigh.edu). We look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Michael J. Brennan '85 Director of Admissions and Financial Aid |
