Buenos Aires, Argentina

Whether it is through dancing the Tango, or visiting a local ranch with real gauchos, students truly feel a part of the lively and welcoming Argentinean culture.
This program includes daily Spanish classes, Argentinean history classes, and weekly excursions throughout Buenos Aires. Travel opportunities within Argentina have in the past included a trip to either the Foz de Iguazu, Bariloche, Cordoba, Calafate, Mendoza or Salta. Participants are expected to have a basic knowledge of Spanish. Students receive academic credit for this seminar. Juniors will receive service credit for their participation.

List of 5 items.

  • Eligibility

Students are eligible to travel at the conclusion of their sophomore or junior year.  Interested freshmen and/or seniors must contact the Vice President for Global Mission and Identity to inquire about program participation.  Students should be enrolled in Spanish at BC High.
  • Academic Credit

This program will offer .5 credit that will be officially listed on the student’s transcript and will be used when factoring a student’s cumulative GPA. Please note that the credit offered does not replace any required classes at BC High.

Juniors will also receive service credit for their participation in service initiatives.
  • The Host Family Experience

Because cultural immersion is such an important part of our exchange program, and in an effort to keep our cost reasonable, our students stay with host families during this exchange program. BC High students who host an exchange student in their home and participate in an international seminar have the most fulfilling experience. For this reason, it is the expectation of all students who hope to travel abroad to serve as a host family. Whenever possible, a BC High student will stay with the family of the student who may have previously stayed in his home. Students from Buenos Aires typically arrive in mid-January and stay for 4 weeks.
  • Program Costs

Estimated at $3500 - Cost includes tuition, board, meals, travel within Argentina, and entrance fees. Expenses that are not included are: round-trip air travel, personal items, and services such as passport fees, phone calls, and personal spending money. (Final cost is determined by participation.) Financial aid is available through the application process.
  • Program Dates

This program is estimated to run for approximately four weeks at the conclusion of the academic school year.
