Being visually literate is essential in today’s world. Students are inundated with images on a regular basis from news media, consumer products, and the web. Graduates will need to discern, function, and create in higher education and beyond. It is our belief that not all students will be artists or designers, but with nurtured creativity, their lives will be enriched with their ability to express their ideas. Course study provides students with the necessary skills to navigate, make decisions and excel in the visual arts.
Skill-building begins in the Arrupe Division where students are introduced to studio behavior and practice. The High School continues the investigation by offering courses in fine arts, media, and design. Within those disciplines, a variety of options are available from 1/4 credit to AP. Freshmen entering the school with a strong desire for visual study have the option of an accelerated track which leads to Honors and Advanced Placement Studio.
