Applying to BC High

Thank you for your interest in applying to Boston College High School. We understand that applying to a new school can be daunting, but just as St. Ignatius called on his followers to be his Companions, the Admission office is committed to accompanying you and your family through every step of the application process.

We review admission applications holistically, considering a number of factors in our decisions. These include your academic background, your contributions to your school and community, and your recommendations, among other factors. Our hope is to get to know you well through your application so that we may understand your potential to contribute to our vibrant community and one day, be considered among a strong alumni network that spans the globe.

How to Apply

The two main entry points for BC High are for Grades 7 and 9. If you are interested in transferring to BC High, we will consider students for Grades 8, 10 and 11 based on space availability. Admission deadlines and requirements differ based on entry point.

  • Arrupe Division: Grade 7 Applicants

    The application deadline for Grades 7 and 9 for fall 2017 entry has passed. However, we understand that families’ situations may have prevented some from completing the application by the deadline dates. If you would like to be considered at this time, please contact the Office of Admission at 617-474-5010 to discuss the application process.

    Required Application Materials

    All applicants to BC High, regardless of entry point, need to submit the following credentials:
    1. Student Application
    2. Parent/Guardian Questionnaire
    3. School Report Form
    4. (2) Teacher Evaluation Forms:
      • One must be from an English or Social Studies teacher.
      • The second can be from an academic teacher of your choosing (Math, Science or Language).

    Testing Requirements

    Standardized Test: Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE)
    Offered at BC High: November 5, December 3, and January 7
    Testing Code: 220180
    Testing Limits: 3 times in 12-month period

    Applying for Financial Aid

    BC High benefits from an active and engaged community consisting of alumni, parents and friends of the school. Through their generosity, we are able to award approximately $6 million in financial assistance for our students. In order to be considered for financial aid, please complete the Financial Aid Application by visiting www.mytads.com and clicking on “Financial Aid Assessment”. All Financial Aid Applications must be submitted between September 8, 2016 and December 31, 2016 for financial assistance awards to be mailed with admission decision notifications. Applications that are submitted after December 31 will be considered late applicants and financial assistance funds will be considered as available.
  • High School: Grade 9 Applicants

    Testing Limits: HSPT can only be taken once; SSAT can be taken more than once
