Intramural Program

The Intramural program at BC High provides exercise, recreation, and fun for students in a relaxed, yet structured environment. Intramurals enhance the education of the whole person by promoting and reinforcing teamwork, personal accomplishment, mutual respect and integrity, as well as skill and exercise.
The program includes formal competition in a variety of team and individual sports and activities, using both a league and single-elimination tournament structure. Every student is encouraged to play to the best of their abilities; however, the genuine value of Intramurals comes from playing, not from winning. Intramural leagues and activities are offered in the fall, winter, and spring seasons.

Goals of the Program:

  1. Provide a wide range of individual and team sports and activities at a variety of competitive and recreational levels to students, faculty, and staff at Boston College High School.
  2. Provide opportunities for social contacts and the development of lasting friendships.
  3. Teach a respect for sportsmanship and the principles of fair play.
  4. Develop habits of participation that can carry over into everyday living.
  5. Develop physical fitness, strength, endurance, power, agility, and flexibility.
  6. Provide leadership and fellowship opportunities through participation.
  7. Provide educational experiences for students to develop a commitment to lifelong learning.
