Illuminating Excellence Initiatives
Inspiring Human Excellence
The Foundation of Formation
BC High has a proud tradition of transforming promising boys into capable, caring men. To sustain our leadership in educating the whole person, we must evolve our student formation program to reflect the world where our graduates will lead and serve. At a time when the process of helping boys become good, responsible men feels more complex and fraught than ever, we must make investments in our campus and curriculum that help students address issues related to masculinity, character, and other vital concerns through an examination of the relationship between God and self.
Using the same skills of reflection and self-assessment we teach our students, we are reassessing our curriculum to help ensure that we continue to combine a top-flight education with a life-changing formation experience. Gifts to the campaign support innovative approaches to learning and teaching that promote creative thinking and collaboration while ensuring that students are seen, known, cared for, and appropriately mentored.
Campaign priorities in this area include:
-
House System
BC High established the House System in September 2022. Empirical research and our centuries-long experience in all-boys education show that boys learn best when they are deeply connected to the adults and peers around them. The House System ensures a holistic formation centered on cura personalis —care for the whole person. Through current-use or endowed House Sponsorships, you provide our students with the opportunity to experience a true transformation of the head, heart, and hands. -
Centers of Human Excellence
The Centers of Human Excellence embody BC High’s Jesuit commitment to forming men of competence, conscience, compassion, and commitment. Through these Centers, students connect learning to real-world impact, growing as spiritual leaders, innovative thinkers, and advocates for justice. Sustained investment ensures these Centers remain enduring pillars of the BC High experience. -
Curriculum Enhancement
BC High’s faculty and staff shape the experiences that define our students’ lives. Through endowed faculty positions, teaching awards, and curriculum and professional enrichment, this campaign priority strengthens our ability to recruit and retain exceptional educators who bring our Jesuit mission to life. Your investment provides the stability needed to sustain academic excellence and personal formation for generations to come.
“Illuminating Excellence honors BC High's proud legacy, reaffirms the school's commitment to its Jesuit values, and provides the resources needed to secure a bright future for the school we love. Whatever the size of your gift, your generosity makes all the difference for future generations of Eagles.”

Improving Access and Affordability
Making Dreams Achievable
Thousands of Eagles have had their life trajectory shaped at BC High. Our alumni often describe how they were transformed by the commitment of an adult who believed in their potential. Those transformational opportunities are a direct result of the generosity of devoted alumni, parents, and friends who make the dream of a BC High education achievable. Our campaign will sustain that legacy of caring through increased support for scholarships and financial aid, so that we can always keep our community open to bright, bold, and dedicated students.
If our graduates are to embody Jesuit values, we need to provide a learning environment that reflects the world they will encounter in college and beyond. As one friend of the school said: “BC High isn’t a place you go to—it’s a place you go from.” Support for scholarships helps ensure that every new class includes highly motivated students from a breadth of backgrounds and perspectives who will one day enhance our global network of alumni. Increasing our scholarship resources also enables us to be more discerning in our enrollment efforts by engaging and aligning ourselves with students and families whose hopes, dreams, and hearts reflect and help advance our mission.
Funding opportunities include:
-
Current-use Gifts
Outright current-use gifts to financial aid provide over $13M (as of the 2025-2026 academic year) in critical need-based aid. -
Companion Scholarships
Companion Scholarships provide direct and immediate need-based aid to maintain a consistent level of support for today’s students. -
Endowed Scholarships
Endowed scholarships ensure long-term access and affordability by providing year-over-year support in perpetuity.
“Fr. Don MacMillan, SJ ’60 was an important part of my formation and that of so many BC High alumni. His ministry of presence has touched our family through four generations and many events including weddings, baptisms, and funerals. His kindness and generous spirit means so much and he has left an indelible imprint on us all. It is important that we recognize the impact that Fr. Don has made to the BC High community. This scholarship offers a student an opportunity to embrace a Catholic Jesuit education that will provide a foundation for formation and commitment. AMDG.”

Investing in Our Campus
Linking the Physical and the Philosophical
Educating the whole student requires engaging head, heart, and hands—strengthening the mind, body, and spirit while providing the physical resources necessary for students to flourish both individually and as a community. To fully deliver on our mission, we must pursue campus enhancements that embody our ethos of human excellence and foster ever-deeper connections across our campus.
To address the academic, athletic, emotional, and spiritual needs of our students, we have developed a strategic campus master plan that integrates modern technology with our philosophical approach to learning. During the Illuminating Excellence campaign, BC High has already realized significant milestones in this vision with the completion of the Patrick F. Cadigan ’52 Wellness Complex and the Murphy Family Stadium—transformational investments that elevate student wellness, athletic excellence, and community life.
With a 40-acre campus situated on Dorchester Bay, we are looking toward a future that respects our history while embracing the needs of a diverse and dynamic community. It is an exciting moment to align the spaces where our students are formed with the technological and physical infrastructure required for the next generation of BC High.
Investments in our campus include the following:
-
Innovative Learning Spaces
Creating state-of-the-art classrooms and collaborative environments where students work across disciplines, explore new ideas, and pursue creative projects. -
Immediate Campus Enhancements
Donors who consider current-use support to our physical campus provide BC High with the ability to maintain and modernize our current facilities, ensuring today's students have safe, high-functioning spaces for athletics, arts, and academics. -
Sustained Campus Investment
Endowed campus improvement funds ensure the long-term stewardship of our 40-acre home, guaranteeing that BC High remains a premier destination for learning for decades to come.
“Our campus spaces are key to boys’ learning and growth. From our classrooms to our theater, from our Nutrition Kitchen to the hands-on Workshop, and from the stained glass in our chapel to the turf on the practice fields, formation happens. Jesuit values are lived out. Traditions are honored, and commitments are made - to God, to a brotherhood, and to lives of service. We are proud that our physical spaces reflect the calling that we cherish for our students.”
