BC High Names Tom Conley ’08 as Athletic Director

BC HIGH ANNOUNCES TOM CONLEY ’08 AS NEW ATHLETIC DIRECTOR

Conley currently serves as Boston College High School’s Assistant Athletic Director

Boston, Mass. (June 2, 2022): Boston College High School is excited to announce the appointment of Tom Conley ’08 as the school’s new Athletic Director. Conley currently serves as the Assistant Athletic Director and will succeed Jon Bartlett ’87, who is departing for a similar role at St. Sebastian School.

“I would first like to thank Jon Bartlett, who gave me the opportunity three years ago to return to BC High and truly showed me how to run a successful athletic program,” said. Conley “With a history steeped in tradition and success, and so many teams, student-athletes, and coaches to care for, there are a lot of moving parts within our athletic program. Jon’s leadership and guidance has been invaluable. He has been a remarkable coach, mentor, and friend.”

A star athlete at BC High, Conley led the baseball team to a state championship in 2008 and was a key member of the 2007 football team that went 11-1. After graduating from BC High, Conley went on to play Division I baseball at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst where he was a four-year starting catcher for the Minutemen. In 2009, he was named to the Atlantic-10 All-Rookie Team. During his collegiate career, Conley also played for the Keene Swamp Bats in the New England Collegiate Baseball League, where he served as a captain of the 2010 NECBL Championship team.

“Tom has done a wonderful job in his current role and will continue to excel stepping into this significant leadership position in our school,” said Principal Adam Lewis. “During his three years at BC High as Assistant Athletic Director, Tom has made meaningful connections with our coaches and served as a role model for our student-athletes. He is deeply committed to our mission of forming the head, heart, and hands of our young men.”

“Sports are an integral part of our students’ personal growth and character formation,” said President Grace Cotter Regan. “Tom proudly wore his Eagles jersey as a student, and he has continually demonstrated a fierce commitment to the Jesuit principle of cura personalis, developing the whole person, throughout his decades-long career in athletics. Guided by Tom’s leadership, our athletic teams will undoubtedly continue their excellence on and off the field.”

Throughout his career, Conley has demonstrated what it means to be a man for others, dedicating his entire career in service to other student-athletes. He has held four collegiate Assistant Baseball Coach positions – four at the Division I level with Bryant University, Harvard University and Rutgers University, and one at the Division III level with Trinity College. Conley also spent four years as Head Coach of the Pittsfield Suns: Future Collegiate Baseball League where he was responsible for recruiting and mentoring players nationwide.

“I’ve been so fortunate to be a part of a proud Eagle legacy at BC High and am eager to continue that success. My wife Amelia, son Thomas, and I love being a part of the BC High community. Thank you to President Grace Cotter Regan, Principal Adam Lewis and the search committee for having confidence in my vision. I look forward to their partnership as we form student-athletes to be leaders on the field and in the classroom.”
