BC High Announces Matthew Slater as Assistant Head Football Coach for Leadership and Player Development

Boston, MA — Boston College High School is proud to announce that Matthew Slater, former New England Patriots standout and one of the most respected leaders in professional football, has joined the BC High Eagles football staff as Assistant Head Football Coach for Leadership and Player Development.

In this role, Slater will help shape the culture and standards of the football program while mentoring players and captains, supporting development across all levels of BC High football, and participating in varsity games, practices, camps, clinics, and selected program events. He will also work with the coaching staff to strengthen the long-term player pipeline and expand opportunities for younger student-athletes.

Athletic Director Tom Conley ’08 emphasized the program-wide impact Slater will bring. “We are committed to building a team and a culture that begins well before varsity football. Matthew will be an important part of our work with camps and younger students, helping us build excitement, establish strong foundations, and bring even greater visibility to BC High football.”

Head Coach Paul Zukauskas noted that Slater’s influence will extend far beyond the field. "Matthew brings something rare to our staff that goes beyond X's and O's. I admired his career from a distance as an All-Pro player, Super Bowl champion and captain with the New England Patriots, and now that I've had the chance to spend time with him, it's clear why he was so successful. We're aligned on what matters most — building a team our players are proud to be part of, and teaching lessons through football that will serve them long after they leave BC High. As Assistant Head Coach, Matthew will focus on providing opportunities for our whole program to develop both on and off the field."

The Eagles open their season on the road on Friday, September 11 at 7:00 p.m. vs. Central Catholic.

*Special Note: BC High will host a Football Camp from Monday, August 17 through Thursday, August 20, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, featuring our new coach - Matthew Slater.

The camp is run by BC High Head Coach Paul Zukauskas along with the BC High varsity staff. Campers will work through position-specific offensive and defensive drills built on fundamentals heading into their fall seasons. The camp is open to any player entering grades 9 through 12.
